Demand for UPF bachelor’s degree programmes increases 11% from last academic year

Pompeu Fabra University has received 4,794 first-choice applications, equivalent to two applications per available place. The cut-off mark for 38% of the university’s bachelor’s degree programmes is above 12.

UPF is offering 2,415 places for new students in its integrated studies in the 2020-2021 academic year. It received 4,794 applications, yielding a demand-to-supply ratio of 1.98, or almost two applications per available place.

In all, 21 of the 29 bachelor’s degree programmes offered at UPF (72.5%) have a cut-off mark higher than 9 (the maximum score is 14), two more than last academic year. This reinforces the idea that students must increasingly earn better marks to gain admission to the university. Two of these bachelor’s degree programmes are amongst the top ten with the highest cut-off marks in the Catalan university system: Medicine, offered jointly with the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), with a cut-off mark of 13.042, ranks sixth, and Philosophy, Politics and Economics, with a mark of 13.018, ranks seventh.

Two bachelor’s degree programmes are amongst the top ten with the highest cut-off marks in the Catalan university system: Medicine, offered jointly with the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), with a cut-off mark of 13.042, ranks sixth, and Philosophy, Politics and Economics, with a mark of 13.018, ranks seventh.

Notably, the bachelor’s degree programme in Philosophy, Politics and Economics is the only degree from the field of humanities and political and social sciences to make the top ten highest cut-off marks for the Catalan university system.

In general, first-choice applications for UPF programmes have noticeably increased (489 more applications, 11% more than the last academic year) in a fairly even way. The degree programmes for which the most first-choice applications were received were:
