Last February 21, organized by the Center for Research in Occupational Health (CISAL) UPF / IMIM, took place an act of remembrance and homage to our colleague and friend Jordi Castejón, who died on January 18, 2018.

Jordi Castejón was a Work Physician who devoted an important part of his professional life to make visible the Professional Illness. In fact, his Doctoral Thesis (UAB 2003) was dedicated to that same objective, discovering that approximately 16% of the episodes of Temporary Disability due to Common Contingency may be due to a Professional Illness. A finding that has later been verified by other studies and other methodologies.

For this reason, and as a continuation of their work, together with other colleagues with whom we share this objective to improve the diagnosis and recognition of Occupational Diseases, we organized a Round Table where different initiatives were reviewed, and we proposed the necessary differentiation between Occupational Disease (PD) and Work-Related Illness (ERT), in order to clarify the objectives and utilities of this effort carried out by both the Health / Labor Pathology Units in Primary Care, as well as in the Care Specialized
