Presses Universitaires de Rennes is publishing the French edition of the book Motivos visuales del cine —a volume edited by Jordi Balló and Alain Bergala in 2016 with Galaxia Gutenberg— that has been edited in French in August this year. The text collection gathered in this collective research on visual motifs included the collaboration from many French professors and reviewers, such as Arnaud Hée, Philippe Ragel, Jacques Parsi, Jacques Aumont and Jean Douchet, among others. It being published in French was, then, one essential step for the international experience of this project, which was born as a collaborative effort between the Departamento de Comunicación in the Pompeu Fabra University and the Université de Rennes 2.

The volume had 62 essays, written by a total of 59 authors, whose reflections provide the French reader with a thought-provoking collection of motifs, from ‘the kiss’ to ‘the cat’ and the shadow, the bed, the eye and the swing as well. Objects and figures grouped in families, recurrence and authorial obsessions creating a ludic, pedagogical way of observing and analyzing cinema.
