Holder of a Doctorate in Communication from the Pompeu Fabra University, where he teaches Film Theory and Analysis (Bachelor's degree in Audiovisual Communication) and Genres in Contemporary Cinema (Master's degree in Contemporary Film and Audiovisual Studies). Carlos Losilla belongs to the editorial board of the magazines Caimán Cuadernos de Cine and La Furia Umana. An essayist and film reviewer, his latest books include Flujos de la melancolía (2012), La invención de la modernidad (2013) and Zona de sombra (2014), and he works as a reviewer at Time Out Barcelona, Sensacine's web and La Vanguardia's supplement Cultura/s. He is a member of the Festival Internacional de Cinema d’Autor de Barcelona (D’A) programming team.

Amongst his latest publications, the following are worth noting: “Ensayo sobre ventanas o la puesta en escena como forma de vida en Jacques Becker”, Festival Internacional de Cine de San Sebastián (2016) or “A las puertas de la vida: sobre el cine de Richard Linklater en Richard Linklater, el tiempo en sus manos,” Semana Internacional de Cine de Valladolid (2016), as well as his participation in the symposium “Andrei Tarkovski en el contexto de la cultura universal”, held in Barcelona, and organized by the Slavic Studies Seminar (UPF Humanities Department , 2016).
