On Tuesday 2nd May at 6.30 p.m., the CCCB will host the presentation of the collective book "El poder en escena", one of the major results of the MOVEP project in terms of thinking about the construction of images in the public sphere. The event will be presented by Judit Carrera, with the participation of Jordi Balló, Victoria Cirlot, Marina Garcés, Laura Llevadot, Alan Salvadó, and other writers of the book.

The images generated by power use certain visual motifs to transmit its ideology through various media. The publication of the book El poder en escena (Galaxia Gutenberg, 2023) responds to the need to counteract this constant practice, summoning 22 writers to act as trackers of these icons of the public sphere, in order to decipher the hidden nature of these images that are presented to us as if they were simple fragments of reality.

Each of the people invited has chosen a different visual motif that addresses how this representation of motifs is exercised from the field of politics, perhaps the most notorious for its propagandistic will; from the economy, always based on the concealment of its real power; from the judiciary, another sphere where opacity is the norm; from the police forces, which construct motifs of apparent objectivity; or from some social rituals that are repeated in an insistent and enigmatic manner. The debate focuses on the genesis and evolution of these forms, in order to take a critical look at the power that generates them.
