Special session with Lori Gruen on incarceration

Lori Gruen is the William Griffin Professor of Philosophy, and Professor of Feminist, Gender and Sexuality Studies and Science in Society, at Wesleyan University, and the first chair of the Faculty Advisory Committee of the Center for Prison Education at Wesleyan. She is the author of Animal Liberation. A Graphic Guide (with Peter Singer, 1987); Sex Morality and the Law (with G.E. Panichas, 1997), Ethics and Animals (2011), and Entangled Empathy (2015). She has also edited Reflecting on Nature (with D. Jamieson and C Schlottmann 2012), Stem Cell Research (with L. Grabel and P. Singer, 2007); The Ethics of Captivity (2014), Ecofeminism (with C. Adams 2014), Animaladies (with F. Probyn-Rapsey, 2018) and Critical Terms of Animal Studies (2018). Gruen has also documented the history of The First 100 chimpanzees in research in the US and has an evolving website that documents the journey to sanctuary of the remaining chimpanzees in research labs, The Last 1000.
