The PhD Programme in Biomedicine of the Pompeu Fabra University has obtained its accreditation from the Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency (AQU Catalonia). The main objective of this accreditation is to guarantee that the studies are developed according to quality standards established by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA).

The accreditation process was based on the evaluation of a self-assessment report by a committee of experts and their visit to the PRBB facilities, where the PhD Programme is mostly developed. During the visit, the committee had the opportunity to learn about the facilities where most of the doctoral students carry out their research. The committee also interviewed some of these students, as well as, among other, some of the thesis directors and members of the Academic Committee.

As a result of this process, the PhD Programme in Biomedicine has been accredited in progress towards excellence, the highest rating granted by AQU Catalonia. Some of the strengths of the PhD Programme that have been highlighted are the high quality of the defended theses, the synergies with other institutions and the internationalization programs. Some aspects such as the Science in Action scientific integrity training programme, the adequacy of the thesis directors and the effectiveness of the internal quality assurance system, have also been highly valued.

For more information, you can check the results of the evaluations on the AQU Catalonia Website.
