The many faces of macrophages
On Thursday, 9 November, the immunology expert Annabel Valledor will give a seminar centered on the role of the liver X receptor (LXR) in the infection in the Department of Experimental and Health Sciences of the UPF.
Annabel Valledor is principal investigator at the Department of Cell Biology, Physiology and Immunology of the University of Barcelona (UB). Her research focuses on the biological functions of the liver X receptor (LXR), a member of the superfamily of nuclear receptors that is activated by specific oxidized forms of cholesterol and metabolites of the biosynthesis path of cholesterol. LXRs are key regulators of lipids and the homeostasis of glucose, and they also play an important role in the regulation of immune and inflammatory responses. Valledor shows special interest in the role played by LXRs in the immune response and in the development of diseases of inflammatory origin.
On 9 November at 11.30 h, Valledor will give the talk The many faces of macrophages. Roles of LXRs in Inflammation and the control of Infection in Charles Darwin room of the PRBB, as part of the DCEXS Seminars.
