#HiloTesis

#HiloTesis 2023

In order to promote outreach activities among doctoral students and bring the results of research closer to society, the Scientific Outreach and Culture Network (RedDivulga) of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (Crue), together with the Ignacio Larramendi Foundation, propose the call for the Third edition of the #HiloTesis competition: Your doctoral thesis in a Twitter thread

What is HiloTesis?

It is an initiative of the Outreach Network of the Sectoral Committee of R&D&i of the Crue to promote the development of communication skills and scientific dissemination of future or recently qualified PhDs.

The aim of the competition is for younger trainee researchers to disseminate their doctoral thesis in a thread of 20 tweets maximum, taking into account the limitations and possibilities offered by Twitter. The trainee researchers/doctorands, whether they have completed their doctoral thesis in the last six months or they are currently working on it, will be able to explain to society what they do, how they do it and why they do it. To do so, they must create a thread on Twitter to take advantage of this communication channel, adapting the content of their thesis using simple, accessible and appealing language.

Requirements for participation:

  • Be enrolled as a PhD student at UPF during the 2022-2023 academic year and have satisfactorily passed at least one annual assessment.
  • Have received a PhD from UPF, and have defended the doctoral thesis during the six months prior to the start of the competition.

Language of the thread: it can be published in any of the official languages of the Spanish state, but not in English.

Posting of the thread: between midnight of 00:00 am of 1 May 2023 and 11:59 pm of 7 May 2023.

The University offers all interested PhD students a one-hour online training session on how to create a Twitter thread (27 April, at 11 am). To register, candidates must send a message to [email protected]
