What is a language tandem?
Conversation exhange on a language tandem basis is a free-time activity, without any academic objective and worth no credits and with no certificates awarded in which a pair of UPF students with different mother tongues -a Catalan UPF student, on the one hand, and an exchange student at UPF, on the other hand- arrange to meet to learn, improve or practice each other's language, to exchange information about their own country and culture, and to learn about each other's interests. Participation in the language tandem scheme is independent of any university-run language course, and both partners reciprocally agree the form, the frequency and the way of communicating to each other.
Who may apply for a language partner?
Language tandems are open to all UPF students, including those students in institutions having an agreement with UPF, and also to members of administrative staff and teaching staff at Pompeu Fabra University. No applications will be accepted from people from outside UPF.
Before applying for a language partner, be sure that you really feel like doing so and that you are ready to invest in it an appropriate amount of your time (not less than one or two hours a week) throughout the term.
