While surfing this website you will be able to get all the information of an institution which, since its establishment by the Government of Catalonia in 1990, has strengthened its research and teaching project and optimized the public resources provided.
The results lay testimony to the fact that the University has embarked on precisely the right course: in few years, the University obtained the Campus of International Excellence qualification by the Ministry of Education and a prominent place in European research; has been promoting several partnership projects with the best universities; figuring prominently in international rankings and remaining as one of the most popular universities among its students and graduates. Moreover, it is also a university committed to the values of a public institution, an urban university that is immersed in the movement and dynamism of the city of Barcelona and, in short, a university open to international talent.
UPF offers its studies in three areas of knowledge closely linked to the individual being: the social and human sciences (Ciutadella campus), the health and life sciences (Mar campus), and the ITC and communication sciences (Communication-Poblenou campus). To develop its activity, the University has been structured into seven schools, a Polytechnic School, eight departments and three university institutes. Meanwhile, in recent years the University has also been participating in a set of institutions and specialized centres focused on teaching, research and transfer activities; centres with legal personality, which provide added value to our university project and that constitute the UPF Group.
Moreover, in order to promote research and transfer activities undertaken by the University as well as provide them with greater international visibility, UPF has developed three scientific parks in their three fields of knowledge: the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Park, one of the most important projects in the near future that is being developed in Ciutadella campus; the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park, one of the largest biomedical research clusters in Southern Europe and a scientific infrastructure that is physically connected to the Hospital del Mar, in Mar campus; and the Barcelona Media Park, a place where universities, companies and institutions from the media sector can meet to develop synergies, placed in the Communication-Poblenou campus, in 22@.
