1. Access requirements

The general access requirements established in the regulations currently in force must be fulfilled in order to gain access to this official Master's Degree course.

2. Number of places on the Master's Degree course

Access to the Master's Degree course is limited on the basis of the number of places established by the University's Governing Council.

3. Admission procedure

The University shall make two calls for applications for admission. Applications may be submitted by candidates who fulfil the general and specific access requirements, as well as by those who do not fulfil the requirements in question but envisage doing so by the time the academic activity begins.

When formalising their application for admission, candidates must submit documentation to accredit any points that may need to be assessed.

Eventual admission shall depend upon accreditation of fulfilment of the general and specific access requirements corresponding to the Master's Degree at the time at which the academic activity begins.

4. Assessment procedure for applications for admission

If the demand for places on the Master's Degree course exceeds availability, applications shall be prioritised in accordance with the criteria established in these regulations.
The selection procedure shall be undertaken by a selection committee nominated by virtue of an agreement of the Committee responsible for the Official Postgraduate Programme of the Master's Degree, and appointed by the vice-chancellor or by the deputy vice-chancellor to whom the task is delegated. The committee shall comprise three lecturers from the scientific domain corresponding to the Master's Degree, one of whom shall be appointed the body's Chairperson and another its secretary.

This committee shall be responsible for candidate selection, as well as for resolving any issues arising therefrom and not assigned to any other body.

The committee shall publicly announce the schedule for the selection procedure via the University's institutional website, indicating the date on which the results are to be made public, and shall ensure that the process is completed before the enrolment period begins.

The committee shall make the final list of successful candidates publicly available via UPF's institutional website. Appeals against the decision of the committee may be lodged before the vice-chancellor.

5. Assessment criteria

The following assessment criteria shall apply in the selection procedure:

a) Academic record of accredited official education in accordance with UPF's regulations for the assessment of academic records and weighted on the basis of the average grade obtained at the issuing university: 50%

b) Complementary academic or professional training. Certificates or qualifications corresponding to other complementary training in areas similar to that of the Master's Degree: 10%

c) Appraisal of the student's research interests in relation to the Master's Degree and its line of research. The student is asked to provide a report stating which of the modules are of greatest interest to them and what type of research project they want to undertake. The academic knowledge applied in the report shall be assessed: how the student aims to carry out their research, taking into account the lines of research that the Master's Degree entails. The report must have a minimum length of 7,500 characters (including spaces) and a maximum length of 15,000 characters (including spaces): 40%
