Accesibility

Designed to be accessible to all

The UPF Website has been designed to be accessible to all. We understand a web to be accessible to all when anybody, regardless of their personal limitations, their computer equipment or the environment where they gain access to the web, can use and understand the contents of this web. This is why we have followed the standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and we have adhered to version 1.0 of the Catalan set of Guidelines for accessibility to website contents - Directrius per a l'accessibilitat al contingut de pàgines web, versió 1.0 (published on the Website of the Universitat de Barcelona).

We chose to use HTML for the contents and their structure, and CSS for the presentation of said contents.

The documents of the UPF Website use sizes that are consistent with the fonts. This will allow you to enlarge or reduce the size of the font from your navigator.

  • If you use Internet Explorer, go to the menu View / Text size .
  • If you use Mozilla, go to the menuú View / Text size 100 (%).
  • If you use Netscape, go to the menuú View / Zoom text 100 (%) (for previous versionss View / Increase font size or View / Decrease font size ).

How to surf the Website

Website Structure and navigation

The UPF Website is structured in 13 broad thematic blocks: The University; first-and-second and third-and-fourth year Studies; Doctorates; Masters and postgraduate courses; Other studies; Faculties, schools and studies; Departments and institutes; Teaching; Research; Library; Activities and services; Companies and institutions, and UPF International Campus.

These broad blocks are what you will find in the menu on the left-hand side of the homepage, and if you surf these broad blocks, you will reach all information published by the UPF on the Web.

The homepage menu offers two possibilities for navigation:

  • The first, for those using navigators that do not support JavaScript or or whose JavaScript is deactivated, allows access to the contents of each principal block by clicking ion the name of the block.
  • The second, only for those who use navigators that do support JavaScript, allows you to open up a submenu in each block just by placing the cursor on top. Once the submenu is opened, you can get access to the desired option just by placing the cursor on it and clicking.

The homepage has the following options:

  1. At the head of the page
  • Change language ( Castellano and English ).
  • Access to Campus Global, University intranet.
  1. On the left-hand side, below the menu:
  • A search engine, in which you can choose to search the whole Web or just someone's name.
  • University contact information, structured according to the type of contact you wish to establish: search people, governing bodies, academic or administrative units, webmaster , etc. ( Contact the UPF ).
  • A list in alphabetical order to gain access to all of the webs of the UPF ( UPF Webs from A to Z ).
  • Access to the Website map ( Web map ).
  1. In the centre
  • A section of Novelties , where we highlight contents at first level to make them more easily accessible for users.
  1. On the right-hand side
  • The territorial campus (in the form of a map with links to each area the University is structured into).
  • University news.
  • The Agenda .

Once access has been gained to second level contents, you will find, always at the head of the page, the following options:

  • Change language ( Castellano and English ).
  • Return to the Website homepage ( Home ).
  • University contact information structured according to the type of contact you wish to make: search for people, governing bodies, academic or administrative units, webmaster , etc. ( Contact ).
  • Access to the Website map ( Web map ).
  • Search engine, which will search, by default, the whole UPF Website.
