Paolo holds a MA in Political Science from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona, Spain - 2009) and a BA in Liberal Arts (Cum Laude) from Universidad San Francisco de Quito (Quito, Ecuador - 2007).  He was a professional musician for almost a decade in his native Ecuador before retaking his graduate education in the social sciences in 2007 in UPF - Barcelona. 

Currently he is a PhD Candidate, FI scholar and teaching assistant at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. His thesis, in general terms, focuses on citizens' attitudes towards democracy. He has also collaborated with the European Social Survey (ESS), participating in the design and evaluation of the ESS Round 6 questionnaire.

His academic interests include political culture, attitudes towards democracy, data visualization and survey methodology.  Out of the academic world, his main interests are music production and interpretation, football, cooking, and caber tossing.
