Catalan courses

Introduction

This modular program allows you to study Catalan language and culture at Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced level. For pre-inscription on the program, completed application forms must be returned by Monday April 8, 2013.

Program Structure and Options

30-hour modules are run on Mondays and Wednesdays AND/OR Tuesdays and Thursdays in midday sessions (12.30 - 14.00) and evening sessions (17.00 - 18.30). 

All of the modules are taught to the highest academic standards by experienced university teachers. In addition, all modules include integrated study trips to provide opportunities to apply knowledge gained and enrich the learning experience by taking full advantage of Barcelona's cultural heritage and dynamic society.

Tuesday / Thursday Evening Modules: (12.30 - 14.00)

Arrow Beginner Catalan: A basic level course (CEFR A1) which aims, from a communicative perspective, to develop in an integrated and meaningful way the fundamental linguistic skills of listening and reading comprehension, and oral and written expression. Furthermore, emphasis will be placed on lexical and grammatical content whilst always seeking to respond to the communicative and academic needs of the student.

Tuesday / Thursday Evening Modules: (17.00 - 18.30)

Arrow Intermediate Catalan: An Intermediate level course (CEFR B1) which aims, from a communicative perspective, to develop in an integrated and meaningful way the fundamental linguistic skills of listening and reading comprehension, and oral and written expression. Furthermore, emphasis will be placed on lexical and grammatical content whilst always seeking to respond to the communicative and academic needs of the student.

Monday / Wednesday Evening Modules: (17.00 - 18.30) 

Arrow Advanced Catalan: An Advanced-level course (CEFR B2) which aims, from a communicative perspective, to develop in an integrated and meaningful way the fundamental linguistic skills of listening and reading comprehension, and oral and written expression. Furthermore, emphasis will be placed on lexical and grammatical content whilst always seeking to respond to the communicative and academic needs of the student.

To ensure that students obtain the maximum benefit from these courses, a placement test will be held prior to the beginning of the courses.

On successful completion of the modules, students are awarded university-level accreditation in the form of a Pompeu Fabra University certificate.
