In addition to
meeting the general entry requirements as established in the regulations in
force, to get access to this official Master's Degree, candidates shall fulfil
the specific access requirements indicated below:
Have an equivalent level of English to:
-First Certificate
in English
-Certificat d'Aptitud de l'Escola Oficial d'Idiomes - Official School of Languages
Certificate of Competency
-Certificate of Competency in English (ECCE), University of Michigan
-A score of 213 in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
-A score of 6.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
or have passed one of the following levels:
-Level 5 of UPF's Language Teaching Programme
-Level 4 at the Escola Oficial d'Idiomes - Official School of Languages
2. Number of places on the Master's Degree
Access to the Master's Degree is conditioned by the number of places as determined
by the Board of Governors of the University.
3. Admissions procedure
The University
shall hold two calls for admissions in which those candidates may participate
who fulfil the general and specific access requirements, as well as those candidates
who, failing to fulfil them, foresee their compliance with them at the time
of the commencement of academic activities.
Candidates, when formalising their admission application shall present the documentation
accrediting those items for evaluation.
Definitive admission shall be conditioned to accrediting compliance with the
general and specific access requirements of the Master's Degree at the time
of the commencement of academic activities.
4. Assessment procedure of applications for access
If the demand exceeds the supply of the Master's Degree, applications shall
be ordered according to the criteria established in the present regulation.
The selection procedure shall be carried out by a selection committee appointed
by agreement of the Committee in charge of the Official Postgraduate Master's
Degree Programme, appointed by the rector, or the vice-rector in whom he may
delegate, and shall consist of at 4 lecturers from the scientific area of the
Master's Degree, of whom one shall be appointed President and another as secretary.
This committee shall select the candidates as well as solve all questions that
may arise as a result that are not assigned to another body.
The committee shall publish the selection procedure calendar via the University's
institutional website, stipulating the date of the publication of the results,
and ensuring that the process shall end prior to the start of the registration
period.
The committee shall publish the definitive list via UPF's institutional website.
Any complaints to the rector may be lodged against this decision.
5. Criteria
for assessment
The following criteria for assessment shall be applied in the selection process:
50% of the score:
a) Academic transcript of the accredited official training in accordance with
UPF's regulations governing the assessment of academic transcripts.
20% of the score:
b) Complementary academic or professional training in fields related with the
Master's Degree.
30% of the score:
c) Assessment of personal competencies and/or aptitudes. Applicants shall submit
a letter of recommendation and a piece of writing, one sheet (500-600 words)
in length explaining the candidate's reason for his or her motivation, which
shall be drafted in English.
In addition, within this section, the Selection Committee may request to interview
the candidate. The date and time of said interview shall be conveyed to the
students at least one week in advance. At the interview, the committee may request
broader and more specific information as to aspects of academic training and
the transcript, level of English, complementary training, aptitudes, interests
and motivation that the committee may deem relevant for admission to the Master's
Degree.
