454/Roche GS Junior (CEGEN)
A second generation sequencer, with up to 70 000 to 100 000 reads of 400 bp average length per run of amplicon or transcriptome assay, respectively, is fully running in our facility. Automated intermediate steps with a REMe system implemented on a Beckman Biomek NX robot speeds the performance of the three days protocol each run requires. Agilent chips run by Bioanalyzer assess the quality of samples and libraries processed during the protocol. This service offered by the UPF Genomics Core Facility is also supported by the Centro Nacional de Genotipado (CEGEN). More information www.cegen.org .
Taqman Open Array Technology (CEGEN)
We offer Open Array technology of medium-throughput real-time PCR for SNP genotyping and gene expression assays with Taqman probes, in the range of 16 -256 SNPs and 18-224 genes, respectively, for 800-7000 samples. The Accufill® and Autoloader equipments make the sample loading faster. For gene expression assays, contact genomica@upf.edu . Capillary sequencers
Our 3730 xl and 3130 xl DNA analyzers for 96-capillary and 16 capillary simultaneous runs are appropiate for Sanger sequencing and Gene Scan analysis. Up to 960 and 512 sequences/day, respectively, in a range of 800-1000 bp. Results in one or two working days. Check the user guide for Sanger sequencing and Gene Scan assays, and rates.

Real-time PCR
With our two ABI 7900HT (Applied Biosytems) and two LightCycler (Roche) units we offer a wide variety of assays, such as real-time PCR in 384-well and Taqman Low Density Arrays (TLDA) format (previoulsy known as microfluidic cards) for absolute and relative quantification, high-resolution melting, and low-thoughtput SNP genotyping. Our users book and use these equipments by themselves. Check the user guide and rates.
Quantification of DNA and RNA
We offer QuantiFluor ST Fluorometer and Paradigm Detection Platform (Beckman) for DNA quantification with Picogreen, Bioanalyzer (Agilent) for cDNA and RNA quantification and quality assessment. Check the user guide and rates.
Robotics
Our Beckman Biomek FX, Biomek NX and REMe system speeds up intermediate steps of the ultrasequencing and Sanger sequencing procedures. With this equipment DNA or reagent plate loading, PCR plate and replicates preparation, and PCR product or sequencing reaction clean-up with plates (Milipore) becomes automatic. Check our rates.
