DISSERTATION DEPOSIT
PhD PRESENTATION
The process of the PhD presentation requires the registration of the PhD Thesis and the agreement of the PhD supervisor. The PhD should be submitted 22 days before the date of the University PhD Commission Meeting (see commission calendar below) at:
CEXS department administration PRBB 3rd floor – room 300.04
The PhD candidate MUST submit:
- The PhD deposit inscription form signed.
- 8 book-copies of the PhD.
- A CD with:
* a complete dissertation PhD memory (pdf)
* a short explanation of the project in Catalan/Spanish AND English (approx. 200 words)
* a glossary of key words related to the PhD thesis in Catalan or Spanish AND English. (6-8 word approximately with just translation for the library 'search' service)
- The PhD supervisor report (length: two page) *(in case you have a UPF tutor you must submit as well your tutor report to confirm your thesis deposit)
- The proposed tribunal (jury) list (this form should be signed by the PhD supervisor). A total of 5 members should be chosen (no more than 2 members from the same University)
- Please, enclose a word document with the following information: PhD research stays in another institutions (country, dates, institution, funding ...) and your personal details (e-mail)
IMPORTANT: Please, check your dissertation register title before you submit the PhD project. Any changes (title, PhD supervisor,…) must be done before the deposit. In order to do that, a Change Register Form should be submitted to the Department Administration. Remember that it is absolutely forbidden to change any part of the PhD thesis project after the dissertation deposit.
LANGUAGE AND FORMAT REGULATIONS:
The project MUST be written in English.
The dissertation project must be an original research submitted in a scientific article style. The PhD must be presented as recently published articles or manuscripts in the process of being published. Besides the manuscripts, an introduction, dissertation defence and conclusions should be presented. Articles are exclusively for use in one PhD dissertation. It is forbidden to present the same articles in other dissertation projects.
There are two formats for the PhD project:
- B5 structure (B5 ISO 176 mm x 250 mm).

FUNDING HELP:
If the thesis is presented in the B5 format and defended before next August 30th 2011,
a funding help for publication might be asked (applicant's requirements: A - B)

EUROPEAN DOCTORAL MENTION:
Those students who have been at least three months in another EU country developing part of the PhD research project can ask the European Doctoral Mention.

The European Doctorate Mention requires:
- A form should be filled up during the PhD registration asking for the European Doctorate Mention.
- Previous to the PhD presentation, the student should present TWO positive reports from two scientists belonging to Educational Research Institutions from two different countries of the EU.
- The PhD presentation should be done in a language other than Spanish/Catalan
- One member of the jury must belong to an Educational Research Institutions from the EU.
- The President of the jury must submit a special form on the PhD presentation day.
