Universitat Pompeu Fabra
GRADUATE PROGRAMMES

Application process

How to apply

In order to be able to register for a UPF university master's you need to follow the seven steps below (the application process is free of charge for all applicants):

1Check that you meet the admission requirements and that you have the documents which are needed

The information on admission requirements and the documents you have to send can be found in the Admission requirements section on each master's web page.

2Apply

You can apply trough this on-line application form.

Remember! If you are not a Spanish national or resident of a European Union member state, you can apply for one of the 40 UPF scholarships for masters, after you have duly finalised your application.

See the "Scholarships and grants" section of this website for other scholarships and grants for graduate studies.

3Send us the documents (photocopies)

After having checked the section of the master's you are interested in for specific admission requirements, send us photocopies of the required application documents by courier or regular mail to the following :

Pompeu Fabra University
Admissions Office

If you prefer to hand in your documents personally, you can do so at any UPF Student Information Desk (PIE). You can find an Information Desk at the Library in each of the three UPF campuses:

Ciutadella Campus: Ramon Trias Fargas, 25-27. 08005 Barcelona
Communication Campus - Poblenou
: Roc Boronat, 138. 08018 Barcelona
Mar Campus: Dr. Aiguader, 80. 08003 Barcelona

Telephone: (+34) 93 542 22 28
Working hours: 9.00 to 21.00 (Monday to Friday)

4Check the admission lists

An academic committee of each department assesses application and decides which candidates are admitted to the different masters' programmes.

UPF publishes the admissions lists on the website:

5Reserve your place

Once admitted you have to reserve your place in the master's programme by making a payment of 300 € (which will be deducted from the tuition fee). This fee is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to other academic years. Payment must be made by means of a credit card using this secure payment portal within one month after the publication of the admission lists. If payment is not made before the indicated deadline, you will lose your admission and therefore your place in the master's programme.

6Submit the original documents (September)

Your final admission to the master's is subject to the verification of the original admission documents (step 3). After being admitted and before formalising registration you will need to hand in the original application documents (or validated photocopies).

This will need to be done during september 2010 before registration. More information will soon follow on where you should hand in those original application documents.

If your university qualification has been issued by a university outside the European Union and the European Economic Area and has not received homologation with a Spanish university course, check this page, as we need to validate your qualification.

7Enrolment (September)

Each department will contact students in September in order to arrange a tutorial session with the master's coordinator (for choice of subjects, tracks, etc...). After this, students will need to enrol online; this usually happens during the second half of September.
You will be then informed by the department secretary on the exact the date, time and place where the academic programme will take place- which is usually around 24 September.

If you have doubts on any of the steps you have to take in order to be admitted to a master's programme, do not hesitate to contact the UPF Admissions Office:

Telephone: (+34) 93 542 15 16
admissions.master@upf.edu

If you have completed all the steps, you are officially a university master's student at Pompeu Fabra University. Welcome and congratulations!
