Nationalism is one of the major forces shaping the modern world. The history of how this happened is therefore of vital importance to an understanding of our world. It is made especially important because nationalism itself produces powerful and persuasive accounts of its own past which contribute to its appeal. Historians have played leading roles in nationalist movements as well as in trying to understand nationalism.

This new MSc programme provides the necessary elements of a critical historical understanding of nationalism as well as of claims made by contemporary nationalists.

Join Master in European Integration and Regionalism

(University of Graz; University of Zagreb i UAB)

Teoria Política

Anglès

European integration is not only a bureaucratic, top-down process in favour of abstract market forces applying "legalese" newspeak, but also has a much broader regional and cultural dimension which finds expression in current tendencies to strengthen regions, preserve cultural diversity against the few negative harmonising effects of the Common Market and to prevent discrimination against individuals. Moreover, enlargement of the European Union has drastically augmented and will continue to augment the degree of diversity through the enormous increase of not only states, but also of cultures, languages, minorities and regional and economic disparities.

Every year our Master Programme brings together 30 young civil servants, executives and academics who study in the course of three semesters in the five notable towns of Luxembourg, Zagreb, Barcelona, Graz and Bolzano/Bozen. We offer a unique education in the frame of five modules, each of two weeks. During this intensive time our students are shaped in order to become opinion leaders and decision takers in issues of European integration.
