The development of information and communication technologies (ICTs) has been transforming the way public organisations and the political system work very significantly for many years now. The potential for improvement and innovation unleashed by bringing ICTs into the world of public administration produces results both in terms of quality and in terms of efficacy and productivity, while also clearing the way for new options in getting the people involved in making decisions and managing public affairs – for example, through electronic voting systems, delivering public services via the Internet, and arranging innovative forms of participation.
Here at our Studies of Political Sciences and Public Management we devote special attention to the latest management tools stemming from the new information technologies (the Internet, website design, telematics, and new information-processing computer applications), and we do this from an essentially practical standpoint.
We also seek to play a part in the training of specialists in the many approaches to bringing improvements and innovation to politics and government: from improving the way the political system and public organisations work in all fields of their management work to improving communication between the government and the people, while also adding in the external dimensions of economic and social development through the use of information and communication technologies.
Our students are equipped with knowledge and skills that will help them to analyse, take decisions on and implement innovative strategies for improving the government and public administration of our country.
