Teaching Experience

After finishing university in Australia, I decided to train as an EFL teacher and travel the world. I got as far as Barcelona where I fell in love with the city and teaching. I have since worked many years as an English teacher to adults of all levels as well as coordinating the English Department of a language academy. I recently decided to change jobs and started in 2008 in the PEI – definitely a change for the better. During my time as a teacher and coordinator I have attended and given numerous training courses, sessions and workshops, believing that continual development is essential in any profession - teaching being no exception 

What does teaching languages mean to you?

I love the fact that no two students are the same and there is no “standard”. There are always new challenges, you can never be complacent, you have to be on your toes, constantly adapt to the dynamics of the classroom, and make sure you use what students themselves bring to the classroom.
