The Department of Translation and Language Sciences at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, announces a one year postdoctoral position in semantics or the syntax/morphology-semantics interface associated with the project "Natural Language Ontology and the Semantic Representation of Abstract Objects 2" starting no later than September 1, 2012, and possibly earlier, depending on when the position is filled and the availability of the successful candidate. The ideal candidate will have a research specialization related to at least one of the focal areas of the project: natural language ontology, the semantics of adjectives, participles, or nominalization. Additional skills in corpus linguistic analysis would also be of interest. Job responsibilities will primarily consist in contributing to the development of the project via original research in one or more of these areas and in carrying out supporting tasks related to the project. In principle, teaching is not required, though the candidate may be asked to help in the advising of graduate students or the organization of graduate seminars. Knowledge of Catalan or Spanish is not essential, though familiarity with at least one Romance language would be useful. Applicants should send a CV, statement of research interests, two sample publications, and the names and contact information for two references, to Louise McNally (firstname.lastname@upf.edu) with the subject line "postdoc". Review of applications will start immediately and continue until the position is filled. Inquiries about the project/position should be sent to the same address. Universitat Pompeu Fabra is a reseach-oriented, highly international institution.
