UPF is a multilingual Catalan university with an integrationist approach and a clear international vocation. It has set itself the challenge of creating new communication spaces in the Catalan university environment and in our society at large. Catalan - UPF's specific and official language- , Spanish - which has co-official status - and English are its academic communication and working languages par excellence, as well as a vehicle for reaching out to academic circles beyond Europe.
UPF has laid the foundations for harmonious co-existence among languages in the University from the standpoint of rendering service to Catalan society by establishing a set of short- and medium-term goals based on the Plan of Action for Multilingualism at UPF (PAM). This six-year plan, running until 2013, was approved at the end of 2006-2007 and began to be implemented in 2007-2008.
Various specific regulations stemming from the PAM have been produced and can be consulted on this portal. You can also consult the document Regulation and promotion of the use of Catalan at Pompeu Fabra University which was passed in 2000 and can therefore be regarded as a precursor of the PAM.
