The courses offered by the HESP comprise a wide assortment of topics and perspectives. Special emphasis has been placed on subjects that promote a better understanding of Spanish and Catalan reality while encouraging critical thinking.
Courses are taught either in English or Spanish. Classes have been distributed according to the language skills of the students. Therefore, even those students with a low level of Spanish will be able to take classes in European Culture from Spanish / Catalan view point in English as well as some classes in Spanish specially designed for them.
The Spanish language courses have been organized at four different levels, from Beginner to Proficiency. The Proficiency level prepares for the Instituto Cervantes DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera). More specialized courses include an advance writing seminar and Spanish for business.
All classrooms are technologically fully equipped. Most classes use a state-of-the-art computer based educational tool (Campus Global) to give support and audiovisual materials to students.
Cultural Component
Organized cultural activities and excursions are an integral part of the HESP. These activities are designed to enhance participants understanding of Spanish and Catalan culture.
