What is the Isabel de Villena Gender Equality Plan
The Isabel de Villena Gender Equality Plan is a commitment by the university to achieve a set of targets with a view to eliminating or reducing any possible gender biases in the institution and enabling all its members, irrespective of their sex, to develop their professional potential.
Which groups is the Gender Equality Plan aimed at?
All groups in the university community: students; teaching and research staff; and administrative and services personnel.
Working methodology for drawing up the UPF Gender Equality Plan
We are convinced that the best way to draw up our university’s Gender Equality Plan is with the support and involvement of its members. That is why a work plan has been designed that will enable everyone in the UPF to get to know what is being done and give their opinion on it.
Six working groups, an advisory group and an executive committee have been set up to prepare the Plan.
The Gender Equality Plan is based on the results of the diagnostic report on the UPF’s gender structure published by the UPF Social Council.
How do the working groups operate?
Six working groups have been formed representing the whole of the UPF community: undergraduates, postgraduates, academic office holders, teaching and research staff, administration and services managers, and administration and services personnel. To ensure that the composition of the groups complies with the principle of neutrality, their members have been chosen by lot.
The working groups have a double remit: on the one hand, to comment on the findings in the diagnostic report; and on other, to propose goals to be included in the Gender Equality Plan.
The groups perform their tasks in two working meetings at which they share information and discuss possible actions.
What is the function and composition of the Consultative Group?
The Consultative Group is made up of UPF researchers and teaching staff with experience in matters relating to gender and equality. This group comprises the following members: the heads of the UPF administration and services staff, teaching and research staff and General Secretarial Services. The experts’ function is to provide an informed and neutral viewpoint on the Gender Equality Plan’s scope and goals.
What is the function of the Executive Committee?
Its main function is to supervise the activities of the equality agent and draw up a proposal for the UPF’s Gender Equality Plan, which is to be named after Isabel de Villena. The Committee is formed by María Morrás, Vice-rector for Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies and International Relations; Carmen Pérez, Vice-rector for Linguistic Promotion; Pelegrí Viader, Vice-rector for the University Community; Jaume Casals, Vice-rector for Teaching Staff; Francesca Mata, Human Resources and Organisation Area Deputy Manager; Àgueda Quiroga, UPF equality agent; and Àngels Ingla, head of the Rectorate’s Office.
