Pompeu Fabra University upholds a strong commitment to equal opportunities for men and women. In spite of the significant strides made by women in recent years, in both university and society, there is still a long road ahead to achieve gender equality.

In order to contribute to the task of building a university and a society formed by free, equal people, UPF is devoting the 2007/2008 academic year to fostering awareness and thought on equal opportunities for men and women. From the considerations raised and the work carried out throughout the year, an Equality Plan for UPF should be drawn up. This plan will bear the name of Isabel de Villena in honour of the figure who was probably the first to adopt the point of view of women in Catalan literature.
