Bibliotheca Mystica et Philosophica Alois M.Hass

Introduction

The Bibliotheca Mystica et Philosophica Alois M. Haas, opened in 2003, holds an important book collection (ca. 40.000), donated by Professor Alois M. Haas (University of Zürich), to the University Pompeu Fabra, which constitutes a highly specialised research field of mankind's spiritual traditions, specially the occidental ones. This library, located in the General Library of UPF (in the center of Dipòsit de les Aigües Building), offers a privileged work setting for any researcher. Besides these research activities, the Haas Library and the Haas Society which backs it, is in charge of the biennial organization of the Haas Lessons, as well as of symposia, international seminars and exhibitions in order to promote the academic research on religion studies and their relation with Arts and science.

Introduction to professor Alois M. Haas

Alois M.Haas

Alois Maria Haas (Zürich 1934) studied germanistic, germanism, medieval studies and history in Zürich, Berlin, Paris and Munic. He had a PhD. at Zürich in 1963. Between 1969 and 1971 he was professor at the Department of Germanism at McGill University de Montreal (Canada). From 1971 he was professor of German Literature at Zürich University. Doctor honoris causa in theology at Friburg University of Switzerland in 1978. Fellow of Wissenschaftskolleg of Berlin between 1988 and 1989. From 1989, president of the Society Paracels of Switzerland.
At the moment, he is Emeritus professor at the Zürich University and he gives courses and conferences in univerities in all the world. He investigates about European mistica.
