Thesis Abstract
My thesis aims to examine the interaction of minority nations, immigration, and political parties through the assessment of stateless nationalist and regionalist parties' discourses. Most research has been carried out in the framework of binomial interactions, that is, between minority nations and immigration, political parties and immigration, or minority nations and political parties. However, there is a lack of research linking all three dimensions and it is here where thesis makes a contribution. Departing from the premise that immigration poses specific challenges to minority nations, and that the answers given to them shed light on a society's self-understanding, the analysis of the discourse of stateless nationalist and regionalist political parties (SNRP) emerge as a good way to engage in this line of research. In a compilation of three articles, I explore these questions throught the examination of the main dimensions of the centre-periphery cleavage (identity, territory and economy) in different cases such as Catalonia, Quebec or Scotland.
