The Language Voluntariate is an instrument for the linguistic and cultural integration of students and teachers from non-Catalan territories that study or teach at University (whether in the framework of European programmes, or bilateral co-operation agreements, of the future only university district or of other cases). Its aim is that the necessary internationalisation of Catalan university generally and that of Universitat Pompeu Fabra particularly will not be an obstacle for a fully normalised usage of the language of the country.
The Language Office mainly focuses on two different action areas:
- A linguistic and cultural dynamisation programme, aiming at organising leisure and cultural activities to favour linguistic and social integration of the above-mentioned students and teachers.
- A support programme for non-Catalan speakers, aiming at promoting linguistic and cultural exchange with the students and teachers from outside the Catalan territories.
