Interc@t is a multimedia system available through the Internet (http://www.intercat.gencat.es) with a two-fold objective: on the one hand, to make distance self-training of Catalan language to all students coming from outside the Catalan-speaking countries which intend to make a stay in a Catalan university; and, on the other hand, to offer a first insight to the Catalan linguistic and cultural reality which enables outsiders students to get familiar with several aspects related to Catalonia and to the Catalans.
It is important to highlight that the Interc@t programme offers to all student who may be interested -through the electronic address assessor@udg.es- a counselling service on an individual basis in connection with any of its products, which are the following:
· SpeakCat. Survival Catalan course.
· Guia de conversa universitāria anglčs-catalā. English-Catalan. A university phrase book.
· Sisplau. Starting-level exercises of Catalan language aimed at university students.
· Ajuda'm. Guidebook for the cultural welcoming of foreign students.
· Catalā a Catalunya. A look upon the sociolinguistic situation in Catalonia.
· Voluntariat Lingüístic. Catalan students help exchange students in order to make their linguistic and cultural integration easier.
· I have learned Catalan. What do foreign students who have learned Catalan say?
