The demand to study at the UPF has increased by 22%
In 15 of the 21 degrees offered, demand has exceeded the number of available places. Medicine is the course with the third-highest cut-off mark in the entire Catalan university system, at 8.67 and the new degree in Journalism has 400 applications as first choice.

UPF holds its place among the top ten Spanish universities
The University keeps the ninth spot in the El Mundo rankings which it achieved last year, but has an additional course in the list - Labour Relations - joining Business Sciences, Political and Administration Sciences, and Audiovisual Communication.

UPF is the second best university in Spain in terms of teaching quality
It is also ranked strongly among the other 20 indicators that are included in the CYD 2008 report. These measure other aspects such as the quality of research, ability to attract new students and the quality of doctoral studies.

Two UPF researchers have been awarded a Starting Grant by the European Research Council
