Functions:  

The Research Service is responsible for providing support for the planning and implementation of research policy; promoting, advising and managing financing administrations' research programmes, and coordinating the processes carried out by decentralized administrative units in the economic sphere; managing UPF research programmes, and supplying data from this area.

The Research Service is organized in the following functional areas:

- Research Promotion
- Research Projects
- Resources Administration and Management

1. The Research Promotion area is responsible for fostering participation by teaching and research staff in research programmes, advising them on financing opportunities and providing guidance on the best strategy; monitoring and being aware of research groups' research and scientific production lines; active participation in the production of proposals, especially those involving leadership by the UPF, and any other tasks that may be assigned to it.

2. The Research Projects area is responsible for advising teaching and research staff and facilitating their participation in research programmes; disseminating and promoting the various calls for projects and the recruitment of staff by autonomous regional, national and European government bodies, acting as a partner with the financing organizations; advising and coordinating the project managers working in research groups in order to foster synergies between them and the University's services; proposing changes to internal management processes and circuits in research projects to foster continuous improvement, and any other tasks that may be assigned to it.

3. The Resources Administration and Management area is responsible for coordinating processes related to economic management of research and knowledge transfer grants; arranging contracts with businesses and institutions and coordinating the training grants process for research personnel; advising on and arranging the various managers and users interacting with these processes, and any other tasks assigned to it.
