This course has three goals: 1) to help students better understand the structure, meaning, and use in context of English clauses, ultimately in order to help them become better and more informed users of the English language; 2) to identify and work on specific areas of contrast between English and their first language(s), which tend to create problems for translation; and 3) to help students develop their general skills in English.

- English seminar B/C III. Linguistic aspects of plagiarism in literary translation (English- Catalan; English-Spanish)
The main aim of this course is to analyse a series of syntactic, semantic and pragmatic structures in English in the forms that they adopted in the different historical periods of the language. The data used to consider these structures contrastively derive from the study of several plagiarised literary translations, although the sessions will neither consider plagiarism as such, nor translation practice.

This course deals with theoretical and methodological aspects of forensic linguistics - usually defined as the interface between language and the law -, its professional domains, and some of its applications, i.e.: speaker identification, plagiarism, and others.
