Catalog '04 (from Catalonia and dialog) is the eighth in a series of workshops that aims to bring together researchers working on the semantics and pragmatics of dialogues in fields such as artificial intelligence, formal semantics and pragmatics, computational linguistics, philosophy, and psychology (Semdial).

Catalog '04 is hosted by GLICOM and the Department of Translation and Philology at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona and it is adjacent to ACL-04 (Barcelona, July 21-26, 2004).

Catalog '04 is endorsed by SIGdial, ACL's Special Interest Group on Discourse and Dialogue and by SIGSEM, ACL's Special Interest Group on Computational Semantics, and funding is provided by the Catalan Ministry of Universities (2004 ARCS1 00056), the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science (HUM2004-20275-E/FILO), UPF's Department of Translation and Philology, and UPF's School of Translation and Interpreting.

  Barcelona will also host, during the summer of 2004, its 'Forum 2004', a huge cultural fair full of events, exhibits, and performances. So a visit to Barcelona in July is in order! Worth the detour, in guidebook terms!
