Research fields
The student who is interested in literature studies may focus their research
on the following fields:
literary translation, primarily from English, French and German into
Catalan and Spanish
comparative literature
dissemination and reception of foreign cultures in the Catalan and Spanish
spheres
contemporary and modern Catalan and Spanish literature
stylistic and rhetoric analysis of persuasive and literary texts
Groups and research projects
This line is based on the following groups and projects:
The "contemporary Catalan literature studies" group (a quality
research group funded by the Autonomous Government of Catalonia. Principal
researcher: Jordi Castellanos, UAB. Other researchers who are professors
of the program: Enric Gallén, Marcel Ortín).
The "translation, reception and Catalan literature" group (a
UPF research group included within the thematic network "currents
and trends in 20th century Catalan literature" funded by the Autonomous
Government of Catalonia. Principal researcher: Enric Gallén. Other
researchers who are professors of the program: Marcel Ortín).
The "translation and reception of foreign literatures in Spain"
group (a quality researched group funded by the Autonomous Government
of Catalonia. 1999 SGR429. Principal researcher: Francisco Lafarga Maduell,
UB. Other researchers who are professors of the program: Luis Pegenaute).
The "translation and reception of Catalan literature (1906-1939):
genres and models of literary language" research project (project
BFF2002. Principal researcher: Enric Gallén. Other researchers
who are professors of the program: Empar Hurtado, Marcel Ortín,
Dídac Pujol).
General goal: to contribute to developing a broader knowledge of contemporary
Catalan literature from the standpoint of reception and translation studies.
The specific goals include: a) completing and producing the catalogue
of translations into Catalan in all genres; b) establishing the role that
the reception and translation of foreign works played on the development
of the various genres; and c) studying the models of literary language
in the translations.
The "theory and practice of translation in Spain: from the Enlightenment
to Romanticism (1750-1850)" research project (MEC, project PB98-1221.
Principal researcher: Francisco Lafarga. Other researchers who are professors
of the program: Luis Pegenaute).
Thematic network: Enric Gallén, professor of the program, with
Miquel Gilbert, Xavier Pérez Torío and Xavier Aparicio Maydeu
on behalf of the UPF, and Francesc Foguet Boreu on behalf of the UOC form
part of the "history and reception of performing arts" study
group, which along with other groups from the UB (Jaume Mascaró,
person in charge), from the UAB (Manuel Jorba, person in charge), and
from the UPC (Antoni Ramon, person in charge), make up the "thematic
network on orientations and trends in the performing arts in Catalonia"
(File number: 2003/XT/00035).
