Foreign language learning through study abroad: what do we know and what do we still need to find out?

Study abroad research has expanded over the past twenty years to embrace both cognitive and socio-cultural approaches to Second Language Acquisition, to combine quantitative and qualitative methods, and to explore wider questions than just language learning. This session will provide a brief overview of the current state of knowledge, and suggest some outstanding unanswered questions.
