Presentation
The doctorate programme in Political and Social Sciences seeks to train researchers and analysts of the different areas and disciplines of the political and social sciences via the study of the concepts and the methodology of research and analysis pertaining to these disciplines. The aim is to combine in-depth knowledge of the main contemporary political and social theories with developing the necessary analytical, methodological and technical skills as to perform quality research, set right in the centre of the very latest international academic debate. It is an international programme and is fully adapted to the European Higher Education Area.
Objectives
- To train advanced researchers and analysts in the field of political and social sciences.
- To train specialists in the department's fields of research corresponding to the areas of knowledge of political sciences and administration, and sociology and demography.
- To develop new, innovative lines in the fields of the Department's research.
- To develop general competencies to improve doctoral students' future employment opportunities.
Contents
- Seminar on Research Tools(5 ECTS credits)
- Seminars on Research Design (5 ECTS credits)
- Defence of the Thesis Project (5 ECTS credits)
The programme shall offer two seminars on research design with complementary contents with the aim of covering the research needs of the department's different lines of research, of which the student must take compulsorily one of them.
The training programme strengthens the methodological tools available to students and their abilities, and provides them with the chance to attend courses to gain greater expertise in the field of discipline in which they wish to read their doctoral thesis.
