Research into the aesthetic schools of audiovisuals in the European framework.
A radiography of the industrial, narrative and symbolic precepts that make
up contemporary European cinema and its relationship with the culture industry
of each country. The research process that accounts for the changes in the
audiovisual sector dominated by electronics and multimedia groups, and their
effect on consumption typologies.
Lines of research
1. Study of the audiovisual work as “an area of conflict” between
institutional and production policies, market share and aesthetic norms.
2. Pragmatic conditions of national cinema through textual analysis, works, tendencies, genres and archetypes.
3. The relations of the audiovisual work within cultural industries on a European level. The design of the audiovisual landscape and the communications iconosphere.
4. Social contexts and spheres of consumption of the audiovisual work.Active research projects and conventions
1. Project of the National R&D&I Plan: “Aesthetic Schools
of audiovisuals in the European context” - “Corrientes estéticas
del audiovisual en el contexto europeo”. Main researcher: Dr.
Domènec Font Blanch. Start date: 23-12-2003.
Aims
To draft a report or white paper analysing the different economic, aesthetic
and technological values of European audiovisuals. The elaboration of a base

for the scientific community.
