Nota biogràfica:

Nascut a Cuorgnè (Torí, Itàlia) el 1957. Llicenciat en Ciències Polítiques (Universitat de Milà, 1982) i Doctor en Sociologia (Universitat de Torí, 1987). Becari de l'OTAN-CNR a la Universitat de Strathclyde a Glasgow (1990). Temporal professor de Sociologia (Universitat Bocconi de Milà, 1987-1991); professor assistent de sociologia política (Universitat de Pavia, 1993-1996); professor de Sociologia a la Universitat de Strathclyde (1996-2001) i la Universitat de Trento (2001 -2010). Editor Europeo de Mobilization (1997-2005), i membre del consell de diverses revistes, incloent Contemporary Sociology (2006-2009). Nomenat el 2010 a la Junta de la Xarxa Internacional per a l'Anàlisi de Xarxes Socials - INSNA. La seva investigació ha estat finançat pel ESRC, el Ministeri italià per a la Recerca, la Comissió Europea-DG XII, i la Canadian SSHRC. Articles han aparegut en revistes importants, incloent American Sociological Review, American Journal of Sociology, i Theory and Society.
