The academic and research Master in Current Democracies: Nationalism, Federalism and Multiculturality has a large research and international components. It is designed to prepare future researchers, political advisors providing them with the necessary training to carry out research and analytical skills regarding cultural and national diverse democracies.
With this Master, the Department of Political and Social Sciences offers students with a clear academic orientation the possibility to continue their studies in a dynamic environment which is clearly oriented towards the international academic and research spheres.
The Master is directly linked to the Ph.D programme in Political and Social Sciences, which has received several academic awards for its quality: Firstly, it has been awarded four Quality Mentions by the ANECA (Ministry of Education and Science of the Spanish Government). Secondly, it has been included in the International Graduate School of Catalonia (IGSOC), which is now known as IQUC and is funded by the Departament d´Universitats, Recerca i Societat de la Informació of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Government).
Students who successfully complete the Master may apply for admission into the Ph.D programme.
This Master has two options: academic and research options
All students must take six core subjects (30 credits ECTS). Moreover students of the academic option must choose 2 optional subjects (10 credits ECTS) among the list of optional subjects.
Finally, students must present an analytical paper (20 credits ECTS) in order to complete the Master programme (60 credits). Students will count on the supervision of one of the professors of the programme.
TOTAL: 60 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credits

The Department of Social and Political Sciences will not tolerate plagiarism, copy or active or passive collaboration in this type of dishonest behaviour in papers written by our students. The sanction for plagiarism will be the immediate fail in the course. Additionally, the University will initiate proceedings against the student that could lead to his/her expulsion of the Master.
We will consider plagiarism using someone's words without referencing the source or including the information in quotation marks or a block quote; using someone's ideas without referencing the source or copying papers written by other students.
