Objectives of the course

Through this workshop, Journalism Studies at the UPF aims to analyze the figure of the journalist and the cinematographic mythology surrounding the media. Four contrasting movie choices all to screened in the original English language version will contemplate controversial issues regarding the relationship between the press and contemporary society. The movies will be presented in English by Dr. Christopher Tulloch from the Department of Communication and after their projection, a follow-up seminar will be held with the students to discuss the main issues of the films. Complementary information dossiers will be provided for all movies.

Course structure

The first 15 minutes of each session will be dedicated to presenting the film and complementary printed material will be handed out to students. With the presentations over, the movie will be screened and once finished students will engage in a debate led by the course instructor in English. If students attend at least three of the four sessions, an accrediting certificate will be issued.
