Laura Pellisé holds a degree in Economics, by University of Barcelona (1988). Granted by "la Caixa", she obtained a Master of Science degree in Health Policy and Management, from the School of Public Health at Harvard University (Boston, USA,1989-1991). In 1996, she finished her Ph.D., at the Department of Economics of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, with a dissertation on "Regulating Competition in the Spanish Insurance Sector. Capitation and risk selection in MUFACE. " In 2008, she completed a General Management Program (PDG) at IESE.
An important part of her professional experience elapsed in Madrid, as visiting teacher at the Department of Economics of Universidad Carlos III, and as technical director of the Ministry of Health. She has worked in the private health care sector for several years, in different positions in the group of hospitals USP Hospitales, and in a couple of star-up experiences in internet. During these latest years, and until july 2011, she worked as General Manager at VHIO, the Vall d'Hebron Institute of Oncology, a private foundation dedicated to cancer research, at the public University Hospital Vall d'Hebron.
