Document digitalization

We digitalize the teaching materials you need to illustrate your teaching and which you publish in the Aula Global (magazine articles, parts of books...): 

• Digitalization of paper documents.
• Conversion of printed pages, slides or transparencies. 
• Correction of defects, image cutting.
• Conversion of scanned documents with OCR (Optical Character Recognition).
• Extraction of text characters from an image (e.g. PDF) and conversion into a word processing format (e.g. OpenOffice, Word).
• Conversion of audiovisual format (VHS) to digital or conversion of MiniDV to DVD.

We inform you and clarify doubts about copyright legislation and on handling the obtaining of authorization, if necessary. For further information: Copyright and teaching materials. 

Integration of information resources

We provide support in the process of integrating information resources in your teaching materials:

• Evaluation
• Selection and acquisition

For example: to add an image or a magazine article to the Aula Global subject so that students can consult it, once Copyright and the Terms of use of electronic resources have been taken into account.

Preparation of teaching web sides

We provide you with support in preparing and maintaining your static teaching support websites (websites that do not contain any dynamic elements) based on a pre-established screen:

• Creation of new websites for teaching.
• Modification and maintenance of existing websites.

Support in the use of the Aula Global

What is it?

The Aula Global is the virtual learning space of the Pompeu Fabra University.

The Aula works with an open code course management system called , which stands for Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment. Moodle makes it possible to create learning environments on the Internet based on social constructivist teaching, where learning is done by interacting with the environment. More information on moodle.org.

The Aula Global provides a series of tools that make it possible for the teacher to organize his or her activity more easily, as the teacher can set up all the resources and activities the student is to carry out, as well as monitory and assess them.

Support and information

You have the Espai Aula Global per al professorat (Aula Global for teaching staff) (you have to enter the Campus Global code and password) where you will find manuals, forums, training, etc. All teaching staff are members.

Support to Group and Classrom Management (GGIA)

What is it?

It is an application developed by the Computing Service that offers useful complementary functions for the management of classrooms and groups.

Acces

From: Campus Global  Teaching  Group and Classroom Management (GGIA) (restricted to the university community).

Functions

• Obtain lists of students in Excel format
• Request a mail account for the subject
• Have a mailing list of students of the subject
• Distribute the students of the groups obtained from enrolment into workshop or seminar groups manually or automatically. 

Support for the publications of teaching materials in repositories

What are they?

A repository is a tool that makes it possible to store and maintain digital objects (text documents, audiovisuals, images, music, etc.) and make them accessible via the web. A repository is, in short, an information system that compiles the intellectual production of the university communities, preserves it, disseminates it and provides access to it.

Why publish there?

The following are the main advantages:

• Permanent URL: permanent web addresses comparable to a publication
• Copyright: advising and support
• Preservation of contents in the long term
• It lets information be created and used more efficiently

Support for the publication of educational materials on iTunes U

What is it?

iTunes U is a distribution platform for audiovisual educational content involving the world's most prestigious universities. It enables audiovisual material (lectures, classes, interviews or events) to be distributed, and played or downloaded for free from a computer (PC or Mac) as well as from any mobile device (PDA or iPod, iPhone or iPad).

How do I publish?

If you have material that you want to publish on iTunes, contact La Factoria, and we will convert it to the right format and upload it to the platform.
