Presentation of Doctoral Theses at UPF

On this page you will find information about how to present doctoral theses at UPF. The aim is to help the doctoral student in the process of publishing the thesis, and also to ensure that the thesis submitted on paper is comparable to a publication. Thesis can be presented in either of two formats: B5 and A4. Please follow the instructions corresponding to the option you take.

 

Doctoral thesis in B5 format [with UPF funding]


The doctoral student may apply for a grant of €600 from the University towards publishing costs. The grant can be obtained for thesis read during academic year 2008-2009 and the application will be published in January 2009.

 

Conditions for eligibility for the grant:
  • The thesis must be presented in ISO B5 format (176 mm x 250 mm).
  • The doctoral student must deposit the thesis within a period no longer than three academic years after submission of the thesis project. If the thesis project is submitted after 1 April, the period will be counted as starting at the beginning of the academic year following the submission of the thesis project.
  • The thesis must be no longer than 500 pages.
  • The doctoral student must authorise the publication of the thesis in the TDX repository (Tesis Doctorals en Xarxa).

Doctoral thesis in A4 format

Characteristics
  • The thesis must be presented in A4 format.
  • The costs are borne by the doctoral student.
